Towards hardware-accelerated 3D graphics: Direct Rendering Manager (drm) support
Yorick Hardy has posted that
he got support for direct render manager (drm) working
yesterday.
The
Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) provides kernel support
to give direct hardware access to clients using the
Direct Render Infrastructure (DRI),
in other words: this is useful for hardware-accelerated 3D graphics.
See the
FreeDesktop.org page on DRM
for more information.
Originating on FreeBSD and adopted for NetBSD's autoconf and bus_dma
framework by Yorick, the code's already
committed to NetBSD-current
and waiting for testers (and documentation writers... anyone? :).
See
Yorick's original mail
for some instructions on how to get started.
