pkglint improvements from the last four months
pkgsrc is the world's greatest source-based packaging system,
supporting not only all the architectures that NetBSD runs on,
but also a number of other operating systems. The team working
on pkgsrc consists of more than fifty developers and is increasing
steadily. Ensuring that packages maintain some standards for both
interfaces and readability, the "pkglint" package can be used to
check an existing package for problems.
Roland Illig has done a lot of work on pkglint in th past months,
and he has sent an overview of his work outlining all the
changes and how pkglint can assist developers of pkgsrc and
pkgsrc-wip (etc. - are
there other pkgsrc repositories?) to make sure their packages
comply with pkgsrc's latest way of thinking. Roland's mail can
be found
here.
