Moving towards install CDs
One can't deny that CDs outran floppy disks as install and data medium,
and so it's about time for NetBSD to consider creating install CDs
in addition to (not replacing!) the existing floppies.
In context of a CD running some particular program(s), I have
explained the challenges involved in another place,
and to do something useful after sitting on a half-finished
patch for compressed vnd handling, I chose to test
Bang Jun-Young's "cdboot".
There are still
a
few
minor
issues,
but the general thing looks really really good. As soon as these
issues are resolved, some thinking about shuffling in src/distrib/i386
can start.
