Research on checkpointing done with NetBSD
The topic of checkpointing was brought up on tech-kern recently
in light of a proposed Usenix paper.
In the following discussion, Antti Kantee mentioned his talk on
Using Application-Driven Checkpointing Logic
for Hot Spare High Availability that he gave at EuroBSDCon 2004
as well as his
master thesis
which also covers the topic, which was implemented on NetBSD.
The consensus seems to be that checkpointing is best done in userland,
as the application logic there can be used. Read the articles for more!
