Specifying the Goal

The next step after obtaining the sources is to make some decisions. The first and most important is into which format to convert the document in question, see 4.1 for a discussion.

After the target format is nailed down, other decisions have to be made on which language to use (if there are several), what colors to use, how to divide the chapters into small pieces (segmentation), design of the navigation bar, table of contents, index, as well as the display of cross references within the document. Guidelines and solutions for all these questions have been given in the previous chapter and won't be repeated here.
