Conclusion

To sum up all the conversions, it can be said that the source texts obtained in the various formats can rarely be converted without doing some substantial manual work on them first; detailled guidelines for authors will help avoiding this. Also, guidelines for document converters as given in this document help a lot, as many experiences and ideas can be given without costing sweat and tears (again). Tools are available, but they don't always do what they promise. Knowing their strengths and flaws is essential for efficient work.

Given the experiences in document conversion performed during the MeDoc project, it can be hoped that future documents comply to then-given standards for authoring, as well as existing tools get improved to leave less work that has to be done manually.
